Sidebars can be managed under Appearance \/ Widgets<\/em>. By default there are two sidebars – Default Sidebar<\/strong> and Footer Widgets<\/strong> which, as the name implies, contain widgets displayed in the footer of the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can create additional sidebars under Appearance \/ Customize \/ Custom Sidebars.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

Footer Widgets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Widgets placed into the Footer Widgets<\/strong><\/em> sidebar will be automatically displayed in the site footer. You can change the number of columns under Appearance \/ Customize \/ Footer<\/em> with the Widget Columns<\/strong><\/em> option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Left and Right Sidebar Widgets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You can assign left or right sidebar to any standard page<\/strong> using the Sidebar Settings<\/em> metabox. New sidebars can be created under Appearance \/ Customize \/ Custom Sidebars<\/em> and you can populate them with widgets under Apppearance \/ Widgets<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Make sure the Document<\/em> tab is active
2. Choose Sidebar on the Left<\/em> or Sidebar on the Right<\/em> page template
3. Choose the sidebar in the Sidebar Settings<\/em> at the bottom of the editor

But what if you want to assign a sidebar to a post archive or post detail<\/strong>? Since those are not standard pages, there is a different approach to this. Sidebars for posts are managed under Appearance \/ Customize<\/em>. Every post type has its own customizer section – Standard Posts, Knowledge Base and FAQ. Each of those sections contains Archive Sidebar Position<\/em><\/strong>, Detail Sidebar Position<\/em><\/strong>, Archive Sidebar<\/em><\/strong> and Detail Sidebar<\/em><\/strong> options to manage the post type’s sidebars.
